UC International First Year Undergraduate Scholarships

Brief Description:

The University of Canterbury is offering the UC International First Year Undergraduate Scholarships to exceptional collegians who are commencing their postgraduate course study at the University of Canterbury.

Australian citizens are an exception for these Scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded in three categories. The monetary grants for the three categories are $20,000, $ 15,000, and $10,000 respectively.

To become eligible aspirants should qualify an entrance level examination conducted by the University and should apply to the scholarship within a year of their entrance examination. Students who are studying in the University of Canterbury are not eligible for the scholarships.

The application form will be available on the official website from the second week of June 2014 and the application deadline is 15 August 2014.

University of Otago Doctoral Scholarships

The University of Otago Doctoral Scholarships programme is intended to support International doctoral students studying at the University of Otago. Both domestic and international students who are appearing for doctoral degrees as well as PhD are invited to apply for these scholarships.

The scholarship covers NZ $25,000 stipend each year and domestic tuition fees waiver (excludes student service fee and insurance).

Applicants must be applying for doctoral degrees for the first time. Winners will be selected on a basis of his/her meritorious background and candidate’s potential for research. The application process has now started.

Newzealand Development Scholarships (NZDS)

The Newzealand Development Scholarships (NZDS) are awarded to selected nationals to gain knowledge and skills through post-graduate study in specific subject areas that will assist them in developing their home country. Awardees are asked to go back to their home at least two years after the completion of their scholarship to apply the new skills and knowledge gained in the course to improve their society.

The scholarships cover tuition fees, travel costs, living allowance, and insurance.

Eligibility Criteria includes:

  • Meeting the admission criteria set by the particular University, in which the applicants want to study including English language criteria.
  • Willing to return to home nation and contribute their best in the areas such as government, civil, and private organizations in order to the nation’s development and integration.
  • Acceptance to abide to the immigration rules in order to enter New Zealand.
  • Having citizenship of any other country except Newzealand or Australia.
